Our mission as followers of our Lord Jesus Christ is to invite people into a relationship with Jesus Christ, so that they become part of the community of believers and grow in faith and service to Him through worship, fellowship, nurture, care and prayer. |

We believe that Zion Lutheran Church was birthed and planted in this location to reach the people of Hinsdale and surrounding communities with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ so that the members of these communities may be led into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, become active participants with us in the body of Christ in the core ministries of worship, fellowship, nurture, care and prayer, and ultimately grow to maturity of faith and life, living their lives to the glory and honor of God.
To do this we will:
- Provide inspirational worship services that will appeal to people of all walks, where the Word of God is proclaimed in a way that will touch hearts and produce fruits of faith and love in the lives of all who worship with us, and where the Sacraments are celebrated as joyful observances of God's work for and among His people.
- Design ministry events that will bring people together for times of sharing their faith and life experiences, as well as meaningful fellowship with one another.
- Nurture all individuals in our school and parish, using clear Biblical principles, in a way that will stimulate growth in faith and meaningful service to Christ and to one another by developing and promoting educational opportunities for all ages.
- Provide opportunities for all to discover their spiritual passions and gifts and learn to serve Christ using the unique gifts He has given them.

ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH
Hinsdale, IL
Grade 8 Confirmation Class
Sunday, January 25, 2009
Gracious God, our King and Ruler, we pray today for Your blessings on President Obama. May Your guiding hand lead him to make decisions with the confidence and knowledge that he has the full support of the people. Give him wisdom to tackle the racial divisions in our world today. Give guidance to Vice President Biden. Help this nation to come together and to accept these new leaders so that we may overcome the obstacles that are before us. Father, many people are homeless, our economy is slumping, and there are wars going on. Give those that lead our nation clarity of mind and the strength and courage to meet these challenges. We also ask You, Lord, to help and guide all other national leaders so they will work together to make the right decisions for our country.
All these things, Father, we ask in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave up His life for us and who lives eternally to bring us into our heavenly home, to whom with You and the Holy Spirit be all honor and glory, now and forever! Amen. |
